Infectiology
Infectiology is the medical discipline that evaluates, diagnoses and treats communicable diseases. Its fields of activity are the entire human body and include infections caused by bacteria, viruses and other pathogens. In collaboration with other specialties and with the microbiology laboratory, the Infectious Diseases physician aims for disease prevention through vaccination, for example, or screening and treatment of conditions when they are suspected or confirmed. STI screening (chlamydia, gonorrhea, etc…) is advised even when one feels well, as it is possible to be a carrier without any symptom.
The Polyclinique Centre-Ville offers consulting services in adult infectiology, travel clinic and international vaccination. In addition, screening for sexually transmitted infections, recommended annually among sexually active people, is also available.
