Deviation of the nasal septum
The deviated septum occurs when the nasal septum that separates the two nasal cavities is deflected to one side with respect to the other. The nasal septum is ideally located at the middle of the two nasal cavities. Thus, separating them into two equal parts. However, some people’s deviated septum, gives a narrower air path, then causing breathing especially on exertion and / or causing a nose bleeding (Epistaxis). The ENT performs, in some cases, a septoplasty. Septoplasty is the surgical procedure that corrects a deviated nasal septum.
