Ear Surgeries
1. Myringotomy + insertion of a transtympanic tube
This surgery consists of making a small incision (cut) of the eardrum, by installing a tube to relieve pressure in the middle ear and draining the purulent fluid (infected) or serous which is caused by ear infections. This surgery is performed using the microscope. These tubes stay in place on average eight months. After the tube fall, the incision heals quickly in the majority of cases and it does not cause hearing damage.
The advantage of performing this surgery under local anesthesia is to avoid general anesthesia and to have the opportunity to resume normal daily life, the same or the next day after the surgery, without having to miss school or work.
