Head and neck cancers (tongue, mouth, throat or vocal cords) were typically associated with cigarette smoking or excessive alcohol consumption. For the last twenty years, the HPV (human papilloma virus) has become important cause as cigarettes and alcohol. It is now found in younger patients, with head and neck cancers, who have never smoked or abused alcohol.
Symptoms associated with head and neck cancers are multiple: voice change, neck mass, disorder or pain when swallowing, ulcers in the mouth that does not heal, unexplained pain in the ear, etc.
ENT examination and biopsy are used to establish a diagnosis of head and neck cancers are crucial.
