Salivary glands
The salivary glands, located in front of the ear and underneath the mandible may have an associated swelling with food intake. This anomaly is called sialadenitis or inflammation of the salivary gland. Several problems can cause sialadenitis from simple dehydration to a salivary gland tumor, or a lithiasis (a stone) that clogs the gland’s duct. The examination and palpation are possible to specify the cause and determine the appropriate treatment.
