Gastroesophageal reflux

Gastroesophageal reflux can cause a chronic feeling of a ball or pressure in the throat or a chronic secretion that causes repetitive scraping of the throat. Over 50% of people do not feel reflux or heartburn. This is because sometimes the reflux is too low to cause burning symptoms but enough to irritate the throat. The diagnosis can be made through an examination demonstrating inflammation of the posterior portion of the larynx. Tobacco, coffee, some medication, fried food… can increase gastroesophageal reflux; in this case, they should be taken in moderation.
